March 26th: Saturday’s Football Accumulator – 6/1

While the international fixtures might be taking center stage this weekend, we have another stacked schedule from across the footballing globe. So, for those of you looking to stick on a Saturday acca, we have found a handful of helpful tips that are worth keeping an eye out for.

Saturday March 26th

BST 15:00 Shrewsbury vs Lincoln

While Shrewsbury might have faced a huge task when they made the trip to a high-flying Rotherham last weekend, there is no doubt that Steve Cotterill’s men shocked almost everyone across League One. Eventually storming their way to a stunning 3-0 win away at the runaway leaders, fans around New Meadow find their side enjoying a recent purple patch. Finding a way to build off of their eye-catching 5-0 romp against Morecambe on March 15th, they know that another victory here could move them within touching distance of the top-half. With just a single defeat to their name from any of their previous seven outings, the one-time Portsmouth boss has also seen his side continue to shine at the back. It should be highlighted, the Shrews have recorded a clean sheet in six of those seven outings. Picking up a 3-2 win when they welcomed Lincoln to New Meadow on EFL Cup duties back in August, the Imps could be in for another tough test on Saturday afternoon. Despite being last seen picking up a point against Sunderland, this weekend’s guests have won just a pair of their last nine matchups. Likewise, with Michael Appleton’s side losing four of their previous five fixtures on the road, we’re backing a home victory here.

Tip: Shrewsbury win @ 21/20

15:00 Altrincham vs Aldershot

Starting with the hosts, while Altrincham might have opened 2022 in the midst of a real struggle, the Manchester-based outfit have come roaring back. Putting in a hugely impressive display earlier in the week as they secured a shock 1-0 victory against Chesterfield on home soil, the Robins should find the mood in their camp at a real high. Overcoming one of the leading promotion contenders last time out, Phil Parkinson’s men have skyrocketed their way up the National League table. Managing to prove that their 2-0 loss against Southend on March 19th was just a minor blip, it should be noted that is Altrincham’s only defeat from their last six outings. Really laying down a marker as they stormed their way to back-to-back 4-0 and 5-0 wins against Eastleigh and Weymouth earlier in the month, Saturday’s hosts have also gained a reputation for their continued success on home soil. Winning each of their previous four matchups at Moss Lane, a struggling Aldershot should be in for a stern test here. Last seen getting hit with a 4-0 drumming at the hands of Torquay on the road, Mark Molesley’s men have collected just a single point from any of their last seven National League outings. Given the huge recent gulf in class, a home victory for Altrincham can be found at attractive odds here.

Tip: Altrincham win @ 19/20

15:00 Torquay vs Weymouth

For our final Tip of the Day, we keep our attention with the National League and a Torquay side who will be looking to build off of a rampant display earlier in the week. Hitting Aldershot for four on home soil and immediately bouncing back from that 2-0 defeat away at Halifax last weekend, some in Gary Johnson’s side could even have their sights set on mounting a shock late charge for the play-off places. With just a single loss to their name from any of their previous nine outings on the spin, a run that stems back to January 25th, the Gulls have also gained a reputation for their largely rugged approach on home soil. Last seen at Plainmoor picking up a 4-0 romp against Aldershot in midweek, the former Yeovil boss has seen his side lose just a single contest in front of their own supporters since the end of November. Likewise, recording four clean sheets in just their last five fixtures in Devon, they will be looking to cash in on a Weymouth side in the midst of a real struggle. Coming off the back of a routine 2-0 loss against Woking on the road, Saturday’s guests have now lost each of their last five National League matchups on the spin. Sat nine points adrift of safety and freefalling their way out of England’s fifth-tier, we’re backing a routine home win.

Tip: Torquay win & over 1.5 goals @ 4/5
