March 5th: Saturday’s Football Accumulator – 9/1

With another stacked schedule from across Europe’s top-tiers this weekend, we have a host of noteworthy meetings that are worth keeping an eye out for. So, for those of you looking to chuck on a Saturday acca, we have found a handful of tips that offer some great value.

Saturday March 5th

BST 12:30 Leicester vs Leeds

Starting with the hosts, managing to pick up what was a deserved 2-0 win away at relegation scrappers Burnley earlier in the week, Leicester will be desperate to build off of that result here. While Brendan Rodgers’ men might have shown some extended inconsistencies this season, the Foxes have still lost just one of their last five matchups across all formats. Extending on their Europa Conference League adventure thanks to a thumping 7-2 aggregate win against Danish outfit Randers, the one-time Liverpool boss should be smelling a golden chance when they return to the King Power this weekend. Glad to have welcomed back attacking talisman Jamie Vardy from a long-term injury issue against Burnley in midweek, it should be noted that Leicester have lost just a single home fixture since November 20th. On the flip side, parting ways with Marcelo Bielsa last week and with new boss Jesse Marsch now in their dugout, Leeds find themselves in the midst of a real crisis. Freefalling down the Premier League table and now at the heart of a relegation scrap, Saturday’s guests have managed to collect just a single point from their last six outings. Gaining a real reputation for their rather glaring issues at the back, we’re backing a home victory here.

Tip: Leicester win & over 1.5 goals

15:00 Newcastle vs Brighton

After backing Newcastle in our acca last weekend, there is no doubt that the Magpies should be smelling another golden chance on Saturday afternoon. Eventually cruising their way to a deserved 2-0 win away at Brentford, Saturday’s hosts have really found an immediate boost under new boss Eddie Howe. Pushing their way away from the bottom-three and enjoying what has been by far their brightest spell at St. James’ Park, the former Bournemouth boss finds his side enjoying a seven-match Premier League unbeaten run. Managing to pick up consecutive victories against Leeds, Aston Villa and Everton last month, Newcastle will be desperate to build off of that momentum here. Gaining plenty of plaudits since breaking the bank during the January transfer window, Howe’s men will be looking to cash in on a Brighton side who are enduring a real struggle. Last seen getting hit with a 2-0 defeat at home against Villa, Graham Potter’s men have lost each of their last three outings on the spin. Likewise, facing a tough trip to the north east this weekend, it should also be highlighted that Seagulls have won just one of their previous eight matchups across all formats. Given the recent gulf in class between the two sides, a home win appears at attractive odds here.

Tip: Newcastle win @ 7/4

15:00 Grimsby vs Woking

Last seen putting in another eye-catching display as they secured a 3-1 win away at Dover, the mood in Grimsby’s camp should be at a red-hot high. Skyrocketing their way up the National League table, Saturday’s hosts now have their sights firmly set on clinching a play-off spot this season. Opening this weekend’s fixtures sat just three points adrift of breaking into the top-seven, Paul Hurst’s men find themselves in the midst of a real fifth-tier purple patch. In fact, on a run that is highlighted by a very impressive 2-1 win against Notts County on February 5th, the Mariners have collected 13 points from their last five National League outings. Bagging a trio of strikes in their back-to-back victories, the former Southend boss has also seen his side continue to shine on home soil. Last seen at Blundell Park picking up a 3-1 win against Aldershot, Grimsby have lost just a single meeting in Lincolnshire since opening 2022. As for Saturday’s guests, suffering what was a deserved 2-0 defeat at home against Notts County last weekend, it is fair to say that Woking find themselves in the midst of a real downbeat run. Almost stuck in fifth-tier limbo, the Cardinals are enduring a seven-match winless run across all formats and will know that they face a huge task here.

Tip: Grimsby win @ 4/5
