March 6th: Wednesday’s Champions League Double – 5/1 Special, Betting Tips & Predictions

As the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea look to book their respective Champions League quarter-final tickets, we have a pair of heavyweight European showdowns on the cards this week.

On a Wednesday night that could prove to offer plenty of action, we have found a pair of midweek Champions League betting markets that are worth keeping an eye out for.

20:00 Manchester City vs Copenhagen

While Manchester City might have a real battle on their hands to make more Premier League history in 2024, the Sky Blues are in the midst of an extended purple patch. With the mood around the Etihad at a red-hot high, Pep Guardiola’s men will be looking to punch their Champions League knockout stage ticket with a major statement on Wednesday night.

Mounting a dramatic comeback over the weekend as they eventually secured a 3-1 victory against bitter local rivals Manchester United, the former Barcelona boss has seen his superstar squad go unbeaten in all of their previous 19 straight appearances across all competitions.

Picking up a first-leg advantage on foreign soil last month as they secured another 3-1 win away at Copenhagen, City have continued to shine with their free-scoring performances in the final third.

While the record-breaking Erling Haaland might have continued to steal most of City’s headlines this season, England international Phil Foden could play another leading role here.

Bagging a derby brace against Manchester United over the weekend, the 23-year-old has notched nine goals across all competitions since opening up the New Year.

Although Copenhagen might have sprung a real European upset back in December as they punched a knockout stage spot, the Danish giants couldn’t have asked for a tougher challenge over the past fortnight.

Hit with that 3-1 loss when they welcomed City to he Parken Stadium for their first-leg battle on February 13th, Wednesday’s guests should also be worried by their most recent trip to the blue half of Manchester.

Failing to pick any kind of momentum over the weekend as they suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Midtjylland, Copenhagen also slumped to a woeful 5-0 drumming when they arrived at the Etihad in group stage action last season.

Betting Tip: Phil Foden to score anytime @ 9/5 with Pribet

20:00 Real Madrid vs RB Leipzig

Although Real Madrid might have come under a huge amount of scrutiny last season as they eventually fell 10 points adrift of defending their La Liga crown, Los Blancos have come roaring back this time around. Tipped as a landslide contender to reclaim their domestic title in 2024, Carlo Ancelotti’s men have continued to receive a string of plaudits.

While the Spanish heavyweights might have been left hugely frustrated over the weekend as they had to settle for a 2-2 stalemate away at Valencia, the former AC Milan boss is looking to make more history this season.

In fact, on a run that stems all the way back to September 24th, Madrid have suffered just a single defeat from any of their previous 31 straight appearances across all competitions.

Picking up a first-leg 1-0 advantage when they travelled to Germany on February 13th, Wednesday’s hosts will feel hugely confident of booking their Champions League quarter-final ticket with a statement in the Spanish capital.

Bagging a brace away at Valencia over the weekend, Brazil ace Vinicius Junior will certainly spearhead Madrid’s charge here. The 23-year-old has notched eight goals across all formats since opening the New Year.

On the flip side, while RB Leipzig might have made an immediate return to winning ways on Saturday afternoon as they stormed their way to a 4-1 romp away at Bochum, the Red Bulls have continued on a real inconsistent rut.

Showing a string of issues since returning from Germany’s festive break, Wednesday’s guests have recorded just a trio of wins from any of their last 10 outings.

Likewise, slumping to a routine 2-0 defeat when they travelled to the Spanish capital while in Champions League group stage action last season, Marco Rose’s squad are rightfully tipped as a landslide underdog here.
