Valencia CF defender Carlos Marchena will have to miss the start of the coming season as result of an ankle injury and is expected to be out for three weeks.
Marchena, who helped leading Spain to victory at the European Championships in June, will therefore most probably miss the Super Cup match first leg match with Real Madrid next Sunday.
The born Sevillan joined Valencia in 2001 and has formed a key part of ‘los Ches’ since.
Marchena’s absense is bound to give Valencia manager Unai Emery some head-ache as the Copa del Rey winners have difficulties filling their defensive positions.
