Il Corriere dello Sport is reporting that Lazio goalkeeper Federico Marchetti is set to be offered a new deal at Stadio Olimpico.
The highly rated shot-stopper has a contract that expires in June, meaning that he will soon be able to negotiate a Bosman deal with interested sides.
Lazio officials initially planned to offer the 32-year-old a one-year extension, but after he rejected such a possibility, the club are in the process of drafting a new proposal.
According to Il Corriere dello Sport, the Bianconeri are ready to make a genuine effort and offer him a deal until 2019 or 2020, worth between €1.2m and 1.6m per season.
Following a short period of struggles that saw Etrit Berisha take over as number one goalkeeper at Lazio, Federico Marchetti has reclaimed his place and appears to have convinced the club chiefs that he still has a lot to offer at Stadio Olimpico.
