Lazio goalkeeper Federico Marchetti is ready to quit Stadio Olimpico at the end of the season, Il Corriere dello Sport has revealed.
Despite being regarded as one of Italy’s top goalkeepers until recently, the 31-year-old has lost his place in the starting line-up this term to Etrit Berisha.
As a result, he will miss out on Italy’s World Cup squad and everything suggests he will be leaving Lazio at the end of the season.
Not so long ago, Marchetti had a long list of suitors among Europe’s top clubs and he should have no shortage of offers at the end of the season.
Napoli have recently shown interest in the experienced shot-stopper and they could step up their efforts if Pepe Reina leaves the club in the summer.
Federico Marchetti joined Lazio from Cagliari in the summer of 2011 and has since amassed 85 Serie A appearances for the Biancocelesti.
