Zenit are weighing up a January bid for Parma midfielder Marco Parolo, Russian daily newspaper Izvestia has revealed.
The Russian giants are set for heavy winter recruitment as they hope to arrest the latest downtrend in fortunes that is seriously threatening to ruin their season.
As a result, they are looking at a number of high-profile players, with Parma’s Marco Parolo the latest name on their hit-list.
Namely, boss Luciano Spalletti has been impressed by the midfielder’s performances in Serie A and he is prepared to pull all the stops to lure him to St Petersburg.
The 28-year-old, who joined Parma from Cesena, is enjoying another very successful season, having managed 5 goals and 2 asists in 13 league matches this season.
Despite picking up just one point from last three league matches, Zenit still sit at the Russian Premier League summit, and are 8/11 to stay there come end of the season.
