Daily Express is reporting that West Ham are considering a move for Romanian forward Ciprian Marica.
The Hammers are a bit short of options up front after Carlton Cole’s contract expired at the end of last season, especially with Andy Carroll yet to return into action.
According to Daily Express, West Ham plan to address the issue by signing free agent Ciprian Marica.
The 27-year-old has been released by Schalke back in June, but he was in Romania’s starting line-up against Hungary on Friday, even scoring a goal in the opening exchanges.
Sam Allardyce, therefore, believes the player is in good enough shape to immediately challenge for a starting berth at Boleyn Ground and is looking to sign the forward during the international break.
Ciprian Marica has spent last six years in German Bundesliga, scoring 24 goals in 127 league matches for Stuttgart and Schalke.
Meanwhile, he has earned no less than 57 Romania caps, scoring 21 goals in the process.
