Turkish champions Besiktas have moved to reveal that Fiorentina striker Mario Gomez has serious offers from Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona.
The Germany international has seen his stock rise a great deal during a very successful loan stint in Turkish Super Lig, but it appears he will not be returning to Vodafone Arena.
Besiktas spokesman Metin Albaryak has all but ruled out the return to Besiktas, revealing that the player is on the radar of both Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona.
“Our fans are hopeful about Mario Gomez returning,” Albayrak told Anadolu News Agency.
“We’re monitoring his situation closely but we know that he is in serious talks with Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund. Obviously he is difficult for us.“
Mario Gomez was in scintillating form last season, scoring 26 goals and producing 6 assists in 33 league appearances, and no wonder he has since become one of the hottest commodities in European football.
The 31-year-old also represented Germany at the Euro 2016 finals in France, and he did well to score two goals even though Die Mannschaft were eventually eliminated by hosts France in the semi-final of the competition.
