German magazine Kicker claims that VfL Wolfsburg are keen on Fiorentina striker Mario Gomez.
The Germany international has kick-started his career during the loan spell with Besiktas and he is again a target for top European clubs.
Wolfsburg’s attacking problems are well documented, so it is no secret that they are in the market for a new centre forward.
According to Kicker, the Wolves have made Mario Gomez their number one target and also attempted to recruit him in the winter transfer window.
It remains to be seen whether Besiktas will trigger the purchase option, although they have no reason not to do so with the striker having largely impressed this season.
Gomez has been one of Europe’s most prolific strikers this term, having managed 24 goals in 31 Turkish Super Lig outings, and he also managed to play himself back in the first team plans of Germany boss Joachim Low.
