Marouane Chamakh linked with Kazakhstan move

Former Arsenal striker Marouane Chamakh looks set to join another ex-Arsenal man Andrey Arshavin in the Kazakhstan Premier League.

Kazakhstani media outlet Vesti reveals that the experienced Moroccan striker and current Cardiff City forward will head towards the newly-promoted Kazakhstan Premier League side FC Altay Semey during the January transfer window.

Chamakh’s contract with Cardiff City expires at the turn of the year when the 32-year-old will become a free agent and available for interested parties.

Morocco international has managed only two appearances for Cardiff in the Championship this season and is yet to score a goal in the second tier of the English football.

A move to Kazakhstan would surely be one of the most surprising ones this winter, but Chamakh would have a familiar face on the east with Andrey Arshavin, who is currently pliyng his trade for the Kazakhstan giants FC Kairat.
