Marseille agree deal for Diarra
French daily newspaper L’Equipe understands that Marseille are on the verge of signing midfielder Lassana Diarra.
The French giants have been in talks with the player’s agents over the last couple of weeks and they appear to have reached an agreement over a four-year contract.
As a result, Diarra will join Marseille on a free transfer during the day, subject to passing a medical.
The 30-year-old arrives at Stade Velodrome as a replacement for Gianelli Imbula, although he might need some time to rediscover his form having failed to play a competitive game in over a year.
Diarra’s illustrious career includes spells with Chelsea, Arsenal and Real Madrid, whereas his stint in Russia proved a major disappointment.
Marseille coach Marcelo Bielsa, nonetheless, believes the former France international will have a lot to offer to his younger teammates at Stade Velodrome.
Aston Villa set to sign Jordan Ayew
Sky Sports is reporting that Aston Villa are closing in on the signing of Lorient forward Jordan Ayew.
The footballer’s brother joined Swansea on a free transfer earlier this summer and now the other Ayew looks set to move to English Premier League as well.
Namely, Sky Sports has learned that Aston Villa have had a £12 million offer accepted for the 23-year-old striker.
The Villans were forced to enter the market for attacking reinforcements after star striker Christian Benteke moved to Liverpool.
And they seem to have secured the signature of one of Ligue 1’s hottest prospects, whose exposure to first team football clearly did him a lot of good.
Jordan Ayew enjoyed successful spells with both Sochaux and Lorient after leaving boyhood club Marseille and he will now get the opportunity to prove his worth in arguably Europe’s strongest league.
Juventus in talks for Donsah
Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport has learned that Juventus are stepping up their efforts to sign Ghanaian midfielder Godfred Donsah from Cagliari.
The Bianconeri see the 19-year-old as a great prospect for the future and are eager to secure his signature before other top sides join the race.
Everything suggests that Juventus will soon agree a deal for the Ghana starlet, while sending Alberto Cerri and Marcel Buchel to Cagliari.
Provided the transfer is agreed, Donsah will remain with the Isolani for another season, during which the Bianconeri scouts will closely monitor his performances.
The talented midfielder was signed by Palermo in 2012, while enjoying a short loan spell with Hellas Verona.
However, it was at Cagliari that he made a name for himself, scoring 2 goals in 21 Serie A outings last season.
