Marseille agree deal for Steven Fletcher

French media outlet L’Equipe has learned that Sunderland striker Steven Fletcher is on the verge of moving to Marseille.

OM have been frantically searching for a back-up to Michy Batshuayi and they were initially expected to sign Peter Odemwingie from Stoke City.

However, the latest reports suggest that they are set to agree a loan deal until the end of the season for Steven Fletcher.

While the striker has already agreed to join the French giants, the two clubs are currently discussing the salary arrangement during the loan spell.

After beginning the current season as a starting striker at the Stadium of Light, Fletcher lost his place in the side, failing to make a single appearance in the new year.

The 28-year-old has spent last three and a half years with Sunderland, making a total of 94 Premier League appearances and scoring 23 goals, while he impressed to net 7 times in 10 Euro 2016 qualifying appearances for Scotland.
