French giants Olympique Marseille have officially announced the transfer of Ivory Coast international Bakari Kone to Qatari club Lakhwiya. The deal marks the end of Kone’s two year stay at L’OM. Kone made a little over fifty appearances for Marseille after transferring from Nice in 2008 for a reported ten million euro fee.

Kone returns to the Gulf after a gap of eight years. He once played for Al Ittihad in Qatar but left them in 2003 to pursue his further career in France with Lorient. After two impressive seasons for Lorient, Kone earned a transfer to Nice in 2005.

Kone made his debut for Ivory Coast in 2004 but was not part of their 2010 World Cup team.
