Marseille have finally made a breakthrough in their pursuit of Montpellier star Morgan Sanson, according to L’Equipe.
The Stade Velodrome outfit have long been hot on the trail of the attacking midfielder, but so have AS Roma, Borussia Dortmund and West Ham.
However, it was Marseille who first came forward with an official proposal and even though their initial offer was rejected, the latest reports suggest OM are close to finding an agreement with Montpellier.
Namely, the French giants have now offered €9.5 million for the 22-year-old footballer, which is not that far from Montpellier’s €12 million valuation, and it appears chairman Louis Nicollin is ready to do a deal.
If they do decide to sell Sanson to Marseille, la Paillade will request that Sanson does not take part in the Marseille vs Montpellier game, taking place on 27th January.
Considering that the player himself prefers a move to Stade Velodrome, the deal should be wrapped up in the coming days.
