Ligue 1 leaders Marseille have expressed their interest in signing French midfielder Lassana Diarra, according to L’Equipe.
The former Arsenal and Chelsea footballer has been a free agent since leaving Lokomotiv Moscow and he missed out on transfer deadline day move to QPR.
Marseille seem ready to offer him a chance to return to his native country and the two parties have already established initial contact.
Diarra is believed to be interested in moving to French Ligue 1, and the opportunity to join high-flying OM is likely to appeal to him.
The 29-year-old has spent last two years in Russia, representing Anzhi and Lokomotiv Moscow, while his illustrious career also includes spells with Chelsea, Arsenal, Portsmouth and Real Madrid.
His suitors Marseille currently lead the chase in French Ligue 1, but despite sitting seven points clear at the top, they can be backed at excellent price of 4/1 to lift the league trophy.
