French giants Marseille are considering a summer bid for Saint Etienne hotshot Stephane Ruffier, according to L’Equipe.
OM have yet to sign a proper replacement for long-serving goalkeeper Steve Mandanda, who joined Crystal Palace on a free transfer in the summer, as veteran shot-stopper Yohann Pele does not seem like a perfect solution.
As a result, the club officials have identified Saint Etienne star Stephane Ruffier as their primary target, but they are unlikely to make their move midway through the season.
Since the player’s contract with les Verts runs until June 2018, Marseille will be in good position to agree a cut-price deal for his services in the summer, that is unless the 30-year-old signs a contract extension.
Stephane Ruffier has been considered one of Ligue 1’s leading goalkeepers for quite some time, but he never realised a big club move mainly because he remained loyal to his current employers.
