(GSM) – Marseille moved atop the French standings on Wednesday as Gabriel Heinze’s early goal sparked a 3-0 victory over Sochaux.
Heinze got in behind the defense to head home a Lucho González corner kick in the ninth minute, putting Sochaux on the backfoot early.
Then, in the 27th minute, Marseille won a penalty when Laurent Bonnart was brought down in the area by Yassin Mikari.
Hatem Ben Arfa deposited the resulting spot kick past Matthieu Dreyer to make it 2-0.
Lucho had his hand in Marseille’s third goal – two minutes into second-half stoppage time – when he slid in a pass for Bakary Koné, who expertly lobbed Dreyer.
Marseille are now two points up in the table on Lyon, Montpellier and Auxerre with a game in hand on all three.
Bordeaux are three points back with a further game in hand.
