French giants Marseille are set to hold talks with West Ham as they hope to secure the signature of former player Dimitri Payet, according to Sky Sports.
The France international has been dropped from the squad after requesting a transfer and it is now clear that he will leave the Hammers in January.
Marseille seem determined to bring the star midfielder to Stade Velodrome, as chairman Jacques-Henri Eyraud will attempt to agree a transfer fee with West Ham.
And even though OM have money to spend, it is believed that West Ham will only consider offers in excess of £30 million, which may prove to be a problem.
Dimitri Payet was on the radar of top European clubs following some excellent showings for the Hammers and France, but it appears that Marseille are now the only side ready to make a serious offer for his services, meaning that a return to Stade Velodrome seems on the cards.
