Marseille keeping tabs on Sevilla defender

French newspaper L’Equipe reveals that Marseille have shown interest in Sevilla defender Emir Spahic.

With Souleymane Diawara sidelined until October and Stephane M’Bia nearing the exit door, OM are in the market for a new central defender.

According to L’Equipe, they are pondering a swoop for Sevilla centre-back Emir Spahic.

The 31-year-old already has some Ligue 1 experience, having spent two very successful seasons at Montpellier before joining Sevilla last summer.

Plagued by numerous injury problems, the Bosnian international only managed to play 22 La Liga games for los Rojiblancos, but, he is, nonetheless, still considered a valuable member of the squad.

His first team status could prove to be an obstacle to any possible deal, although there are no doubts Sevilla will let him leave if the right offer arrives.

Marseille could be in for a major squad overhaul, with a number of high-profile players linked with summer exit from Velodrome.
