Marseille are considering a summer move for Sporting Gijon defender Luis Hernandez, according to El Comercio.
OM look set to stay without important defender Nicolas N’Koulou, who is expected to leave Stade Velodrome for greener pastures when his contract expires in the summer.
Marseille are, therefore, in the market for his replacement and coach Michel has reportedly set his sights on Sporting Gijon centre-back Luis Hernandez.
The two men share the same agent, while they also worked together while at Real Madrid B some ten years ago.
Luis Hernandez came through the youth ranks at Santiago Bernabeu, but left the club in January 2012 without making a single appearance for los Blancos.
He has since managed to secure regular playing time, making 100 Segunda Division appearances for Sporting Gijon before starting 23 La Liga fixtures this season.
And even though he was recently on the radar of Sevilla, many believe that Hernandez doesn’t possess the required quality to play at the highest level.
