Olympique Marseille will be without Argentinian midfielder Lucho Gonzalez for about a month because of the ankle injury that he caught in Saturday’s Ligue 1 game against Toulouse.
Gonzalez was replaced by Charles Kabore after 64 minutes as Marseille were held to a 1-1 home draw against Toulouse.
“He will undergo further medical tests on Monday but it looks like it’s less serious than expected,” club doctor Christophe Baudot told, quotes the Marseille website.
“With this kind of injury, he could be sidelined up to four weeks,” he added.
The club however is hopeful that Gonzalez would be fit to participate in Champions League match against Real Madrid, to be played at the Stade Velodrome on 8 December.
Gonzalez has already missed several games earlier this season after fracturing his left collarbone. The 28-year-old has played 43 games for Argentina, scoring six times.
Marseille entertain Zurich in the Champions League on Tuesday.
