Marseille, Monaco keen on van der Wiel

Turkish media outlet Fotomac claims that French giants Marseille and Monaco are showing interest in Fenerbahce full-back Gregory van der Wiel.

The Dutch defender joined the Canaries on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain last summer, but it would appear as though he is not too happy at Sukru Saracoglu.

According to reports, van der Wiel has asked his agent Mino Raiola to find him a new club and a return to France could be on the cards.

Namely, Marseille want the Dutch full-back to challenge Hiroki Sakai for a starting berth and they will have around €100 million to spend on new players in the summer transfer window.

Monaco, Sporting CP and Al-Wahda are reportedly keen on van der Wiel’s services as well, so this is definitely a story worth keeping an eye on.

Having missed several months of action through injury, the 29-year-old only made 11 Super Lig appearances this season.
