Marseille president rules out January exit for Valbuena

Marseille star Mathieu Valbuena will not be leaving Velodrome in January, according to the club president Vincent Labrune.

The player, who helped Marseille reach the Champions League knockout stages with his wonderful goal in Dortmund, was linked with a January exit.

Valbuena recently complained about the lack of playing time, adding fuel to speculations that he could leave the club in the winter.

Marseille president Vincent Labrune met the player after the goalless draw against Bordeaux.

“We talked about him, his journey with OM (Olympique de Marseille),” Labrune told L’Equipe.

However, Labrune hinted that January departure was not an option.

“We did not even talk (about it).”
