Marseille have reached an agreement with Nice to sign striker Loic Remy for the fee of 15.5 million euros with the transfer likely to be completed later today.
OM didn’t take long to find a replacement for Mamadou Niang as they seem to have clinched the signing of one of the hottest prospects in French Ligue 1.
Nice chairman Gilbert Stellardo admits they respected the player’s wish to join Marseille.
“The transfer will be worth around 15 million euros and the player will sign a three-year contract. It is entirely true that we have respected Loic’s wish even though Hoffenheim’s offer was more interesting to us.”
Remy has been linked with a move away from Nice for over a year now and he is happy everything will soon be over.
“I am very pleased and proud that Marseille are interested in me. After waiting so long for my transfer, the things have accelerated in the last two hours and that is all a bit sudden. Didier Deschamps called me this afternoon to say that he will work very hard and will be behind me to support me.”
