Premier League giants Arsenal are keeping close tabs on Marseille midfielder Gianelli Imbula, reports Il Corriere dello Sport.
While AS Roma were keen on the player’s signature before he joined OM from Guingamp, the Gunners appear to be among his suitors at the moment.
It is no secret Arsene Wenger is on the lookout for a strong defensive midfielder and Imbula certainly fits the bill.
The 22-year-old joined Marseille last summer, but he started mere 12 Ligue 1 fixtures last season, while making another 17 substitute appearances.
However, Imbula nailed down a regular starting berth under Marcelo Bielsa and has spent every minute on the pitch as OM won five of seven league matches to climb to the top of the standings.
Marseille host Saint Etienne tomorrow evening hoping to extend their winning run to six games, and Marcelo Bielsa’s charges can be backed at 8/11 to claim maximum points.
