Marseille want Amalfitano back

French newspaper L’Equipe understands that Marseille are eager to keep hold of midfielder Morgan Amalfitano.

The 29-year-old was loaned to West Bromwich in the summer and he has largely impressed in his first ever Premiership campaign.

Amalfitano immediately nailed down a regular starting berth at the Hawthorns and went on to score 4 goals in 24 Premier League outings.

And while West Bromwich failed to activate the clause that would turn his loan deal into permanent move due to uncertainty surrounding their league status, a number of Premiership sides are reportedly keen on his services.

However, L’Equipe understands that Marseille are not interested in cashing in on Amalfitano in the summer transfer window.

Namely, Marcelo Bielsa, who is set to be handed the reigns at Stade Velodrome, rates the midfielder highly and he wants him to stay, especially since the club are not in a position to spend heavily on new players in the summer.
