Marseille midfielder Mathieu Valbuena would not consider an offer from Newcastle, according to the player’s representative.
Valbuena, 28, was the second Marseille player to be linked with a switch to St James Park after Loic Remy, but while Remy is prepared to join the Magpies, his teammate has a different opinion.
“He would not go”, player’s agent Christophe Hutteau told French station Radio Monte Carlo. “You don’t leave Marseille to go and play for Newcastle.”
Valbuena remains one of the most sought-after players in France’s top flight, but it is clear he only wants to leave Stade Velodrome for a big European club.
The France international has long ago developed into a key player for OM, but he has been unable to earn a starting berth in the national team despite the fact former Marseille boss Didier Dechamps took over the reigns.
Mathieu Valbuena has been in scintillating form this season, scoring 2 goals and producing 6 assists in 19 Ligue 1 appearances.
