Marseille have reached official agreement with Panathinaikos over the transfer of striker Djibril Cisse to the Athens side, the French club said on Friday.
The 27-year-old Frenchman returned to France at the end of last season from English side Sunderland where he had been on loan, with an option to buy.
Although the ex-Liverpool player helped Sunderland retain their Premier League status, scoring 11 goals in 38 appearances for the Black Cats, chairman Niall Quinn said they had decided against taking up the purchase option, reportedly worth 11 million euros.
Cisse is currently in Athens for medical tests at Panathinaikos, third-placed in the Greek first division last season.
