Martial turned down Lyon switch

According to a recent report from L’Equipe, Anthony Martial turned down the opportunity to leave Manchester United for Lyon on deadline day.

With the introduction of Cristiano Ronaldo alongside Edison Cavani, Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood, it definitely feels as if Anthony Martial is falling to the back of the queue with regards to his place in Manchester United’s first team squad. Some believe he still has what it takes to become a fully-fledged, consistent member of the starting XI, but some think it may be time for United to consider moving on without him.

Lyon were one of the sides who seemingly made a late push to try and sign him yesterday but instead of taking them up on the offer, Martial instead decided to stay and fight for his place at Old Trafford – for better or worse, as he prepares to turn 26 later this year.
