Anthony Martial’s agent Philippe Lamboley has made it public via the French media that his client wants to leave Manchester United. Sky Sports claim that, according to their sources, Tottenham Hotspur are highly interested in his services but the agent stresses that it will be the Red Devils who will have the final say on the matter. The club are interested in the winger staying and signing a new contract but after several months of negotiating, no deal has been agreed.
The story of Martial being unhappy at Old Trafford has been reported a number of times and given his game time under Jose Mourinho, it’s not to be wondered at. Both Martial and Marcus Rashford started their journey with United as centre-forwards and both have been quickly shunted to wide positions, with the English youngster being Mourinho’s preferred option of the two. The arrival of Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal in January saw Martial fall even further down the pecking order, while Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata also spent more minutes on the pitch than the Frenchman.
Martial is a vastly talented player, and being still only 22, he’s certain to have suitors should Manchester United allow him to leave.
