Martin Zubimendi wants to join Liverpool

Real Sociedad defensive midfielder Martin Zubimendi is eager to join Liverpool in the summer transfer window, according to GiveMeSport. The report has claimed that Liverpool are confident of getting a deal done for Zubimendi.

“GMS sources have been informed that Liverpool were confident they had made a breakthrough in their pursuit of Zubimendi on Wednesday evening, having initially insisted that they were merely exploring the possibility of a deal rather than actively progressing in their attempts to provide the likes of Wataru Endo with fresh competition,” states the report.

Zubimendi has been on the books of Sociedad since 2011 and has established himself in the first team after coming through the Spanish club’s youth system. The 25-year-old Spain international defensive midfielder scored four goals and gave one assist in 29 starts and two substitute appearances in La Liga and played eight times in the UEFA Champions League for Sociedad last season. Sociedad finished sixth in the La Liga table in the 2023-24 campaign.
