Javi Martinez said Bayern Munich are well aware of just how close they are to clinching a treble haul of major trophies this season.
The Bavarians had already clinched the Bundesliga title and a place in the Champions League semi-finals, before Monday’s 6-1 win over Wolfsburg in the last four of the DFB-Pokal.
Their latest success – courtesy of goals from Mario Mandzukic, Arjen Robben, Xherdan Shaqiri and a six-minute hat-trick from Mario Gomez – looks set to intensify talk of their quest for three major trophies but Martinez is doing his best to not look too far ahead.
“It is impossible not to talk about the treble but we do not want to think about it,” he told Marca.
The midfielder praised the mobility of the current Bayern side and believes the pace in their squad is one of their biggest threats in the final third of the pitch.
He added: “We have very good and fast players. A quick two or three passes and [the ball] is planted in the area.”
The Bavarians will host Barcelona in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final on April 23, while the final of the DFB-Pokal is scheduled for June 1.
