Everton manager Roberto Martinez has moved to suggest that star midfielder James McCarthy will not be leaving Goodison Park any time soon.
The Ireland international has caught the eye of England’s top clubs following an impressive debut season with the Toffees, and interest in his services continues to mount.
And while he is not surprised by the amount of suitors for McCarthy, Roberto Martinez insists that the Irishman’s long-term future lies at Goodison Park.
“I’m a big fan of his. The interest doesn’t surprise me and all the admiration from outside is welcome,” the Spanish coach told The Sun. “James’ future is at Everton and he has many things to achieve with us.”
James McCarthy had shown a great deal of potential at Wigan Athletic, scoring 7 goals in 115 Premier League matches for the Latics before earning a deadline day move to Goodison Park last summer.
He has since proved his worth at the biggest stage, earning rave reviews for his showings for the Toffes.
McCarthy should be in the side when Everton host Crystal Palace tomorrow afternoon, with home win paying 2/5.
