Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer says not too much should be expected of Javi Martinez in his first few months in the Bundesliga.
The Spain international joined Bayern from Athletic Bilbao for 40 million euros in the transfer window.
Neuer said Martinez would need time to get used to his new club before making an impact.
“He has to adapt to his new surroundings a bit. The Spanish league is different to the Bundesliga,” Neuer told Spox.
“That’s why people cannot expect too much from him right away. He will do a good job eventually, though.
“He’s a very open guy and the good thing is that he speaks English pretty well for a Spaniard.
“Will his hefty price tag weigh down on him? You don’t think about money when you step on to the pitch.”
Martinez made his official Bayern debut in last Sunday’s 6-1 Bundesliga win over Stuttgart.
