Martinez plans to spend if Everton qualify for Europe

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has said that the club will have to delve into the transfer market if they achieve European qualification, according to Sky Sports.

The Toffees currently sit in sixth place in the Premier League which, due to Manchester City’s triumph in the Capital One Cup last weekend, would almost certainly guarantee them a spot in next season’s Europa League.

Martinez has insisted that the club would need to increase the size of their squad should they embark on extra fixtures next year, with teams playing as many as twenty-one games if they enter Europe’s secondary competition.

Everton could of course also guarantee themselves a spot in the Europa League if the former Wigan Athletic boss is able to repeat his success of last year and lift the FA Cup.

They face Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in the quarter finals on Saturday afternoon, and can be backed at 10/3 for the win.
