Wigan manager Roberto Martinez plans to make at least three signings ahead of the Premier League season.
The Spaniard is aware that his primary task is to maintain the nucleus of the team that performed so admirably in the latter stages of the previous campaign.
And Martinez will bide his time before making any forays into the market, highlighting the importance of identifying his targets properly.
“The best news of the transfer window for us is keeping the core of the squad together, something that has been the main aim for this period and something we’re all very excited about,” he told the club’s official website.
“Over the next week I want to see how the players return and respond to the work ahead. After that we’ll look to make some additions to the squad.”
Martinez concluded that the new additions will complete the look of his squad before the new season kicks off away at QPR on August 18.
“I do feel as though we need at least two players with experience and a younger face which will help to make the perfect number of the group.”
