Newcastle United striker Obafemi Martins has been picked by Nigeria in a 22-man squad for a World Cup qualifying tie against Mozambique in Maputo on March 28.
Martins last played for the Super Eagles at last year’s Nations Cup in Ghana and he has yet to play under coach Shuaibu Amodu, who took over the team in April following the departure of German coach Berti Vogts.
Nigeria have also selected six players from the country’s team that played in the final of the football event at last year’s Beijing Olympics.
They are Hoffenheim forward Chinedu Obasi, Onyekachi Apam, Dele Adeleye, Sani Kaita, Oluwafemi Ajilore, Victor Nsofor and Osaze Odemwingie.
