French daily newspaper L’Equipe has learned that Newcastle plan to offload midfielder Sylvain Marveaux in the summer transfer window.
The 28-year-old hasn’t quite made the grade at St James’ Park since arriving on a free transfer from Rennes and it appears his career at the club is coming to an end.
Newcastle even seem prepared to terminate the player’s contract this summer, which should speed up his exit.
According to L’Equipe, Guingamp and Montpellier are showing interest in the experienced midfielder, but his hefty wage could prove to be an issue.
Marveaux would probably jump at the opportunity to join his brother Joris at Stade de la Moson and it appears La Paillade see him as a good replacement for Remy Cabella, who recently joined Newcastle.
The attacking midfielder will be hoping a return to France would help him kick-start his career, having been considered one of country’s top players when he left Rennes three years ago.
