Barcelona star Javier Mascherano has suggested that he could be leaving Camp Nou at the end of the current campaign.
The Catalans squad are set to undergo major changes following a very disappointing season for club’s standards, and the Argentine could be among those leaving Catalunya.
Speaking ahead of the La Liga title decider against Atletico Madrid, where Barca are 10/11 to win and lift the league trophy, Mascherano has admitted that this might be his last ever match for the Catalans.
“It’s great what we’ve got coming up this week and over the weekend,” the experienced midfielder told reporters.
“For some of us, it may be our last game at the club, so it will be a very nice way to say goodbye.”
Javier Mascherano is reportedly one of Napoli’s primary targets, with Rafael Benitez hoping to get reunited with one of his favourite players.
Despite arriving at Camp Nou as one of the best holding midfielders around, the 29-year-old has mostly been used as a centre-back in Spain, making a total of 110 La Liga appearances during the four years at the club.
