According to Football.London, Arsenal plan to make Mat Ryan’s loan deal permanent in the summer transfer window. Ryan joined the Gunners on loan from Premier League rivals Brighton and Hove Albion in the January transfer window and is scheduled to stay at the Emirates Stadium until the end of the season.
Ryan is the second-choice goalkeeper at Arsenal and is behind Bernd Leno in the pecking order. The German will stay the number one between the posts for the foreseeable future, but manager Mikel Arteta needs a suitable back-up. Emiliano Martinez did well when Leno got injured for the final weeks of last season.
Ryan was not getting playing time at Brighton, and although he is unlikely to become the first choice at Arsenal, he is at a bigger club who are in the Europa League now and could feature in the Champions League next season.
