Mata pens new Manchester United deal

Juan Mata has signed a new contract with Manchester United, according to the Metro.

The thirty-one-year-old’s contract was due to expire next month, but he has been given a fresh deal which will see him stay with the club until the end of the 2020/21 campaign, while there is also an option to extend for a further twelve months.

Mata swapped London for Manchester in January 2014 after a two-and-a-half-year spell with Chelsea, during which time he won the FA Cup, the Europa League and the Champions League.

He has made two hundred and eighteen appearances for the Red Devils, scoring forty-five goals and adding a further three major honours to his collection.

Internationally, he has been capped forty-one times for Spain, scoring ten goals while he was part of their victorious squads at the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa and the European Championships in Poland and Ukraine two years later.
