Croatia playmaker Mateo Kovacic is said to have formally submitted a transfer request at Real Madrid.
Spanish radio station Cadena COPE claims the 24-year-old midfielder is growing increasingly concerned over the lack of playing time at Los Blancos and is looking for a swift solution to his frustrations.
Former Inter Milan star made 21 appearances in La Liga last season but was mainly used as a substitute by former manager Zinedine Zidane.
With Julen Lopetegui taking the reins at Real Madrid, Kovacic is said to be unsure of his first-team status and his representatives have approached the club chiefs requesting for a permission to leave.
It is reported that Real Madrid have no intention of letting Kovacic go and will not be entertaining any offers for the Croatian international.
Manchester City are thought to be nurturing an interest in the midfielder.
