Mateo Kovacic linked with Real Madrid return

Real Madrid are interested in signing Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic in the summer transfer window, according to Fichajes. Kovacic is a former Madrid star who joined the Blues from the defending La Liga and UEFA Champions League winners, and the report has claimed that Los Blancos could make a move for him again at the end of the season.

Kovacic has made 14 starts and nine substitute appearances in the Premier League for Chelsea so far this season, scoring one goal and providing one assist in the process. The 28-year-old has scored one goal in seven UEFA Champions League matches for the Blues so far this campaign.

Madrid are second in the La Liga table at the moment with 62 points from 29 matches, as many as 11 points behind leaders and bitter rivals Barcelona. Meanwhile, Chelsea currently find themselves 11th in the Premier League table with 39 points from 31 games.
