Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport is reporting that Real Madrid are showing interest in Inter Milan midfielder Mateo Kovacic.
Los Blancos are looking at a number of players as they hope to reinforce their midfield department, with Paul Pogba, Arturo Vidal and Marco Verratti reportedly on their radar.
However, with said players proving to be difficult targets, Tuttosport understands that Real Madrid officials could turn their attention towards Mateo Kovacic.
The 20-year-old has yet to realise his full potential at Inter Milan, but his talent is not in question and the youngster is a starter for Croatia at the 2014 World Cup.
This means that several strong performances in Brazil could persuade los Blancos officials to make an offer for his services that would be difficult to refuse.
Mateo Kovacic was below par as Croatia lost to Brazil in the opening fixture at the 2014 World Cup, but his side are 8/11 favourites to defeat Cameroon.
