Mathieu keen on Valencia stay

Valencia defender Jeremy Mathieu has decided to remain at Mestalla for the foreseeable future, Super Deporte has revealed.

The Frenchman has enjoyed an excellent season on personal level and while he is reportedly a target for Barcelona, the 30-year-old is not looking to move clubs.

After enduring a summer of uncertainty a year ago, Mathieu has informed his agent not to negotiate with interested sides as he is perfectly happy at Valencia.

The highly rated defender has established himself as a key player for los Che and he is finally playing in his new favourite role of centre-back.

Mathieu has been almost ever present for Valencia this term, starting a total of 45 competitive fixtures and scoring 4 goals in the process.

Following the 2-2 draw at Santiago Bernabeu, los Che face local rivals Levante on the road and they are 23/20 favourites to claim maximum points at Estadio Ciudad de Valencia.
