The agent of Marseille midfielder Mathieu Valbuena has poured cold water on speculations linking his client with a summer exit from Velodrome.
The diminutive winger has been one of star performers in an otherwise disappointing season for OM and has seen his name linked with a host of Europe’s top clubs.
After the French giants finished the league campaign in 10th place, Valbuena was widely tipped to leave the sinking ship, but it appears that he is willing to stay and help the club return to the right track.
The player’s representative has stated that his client has decided to remain at Velodrome for at least one more year.
“I met Vincent Labrune in the presence of Mathieu Valbuena and Jose Anigo,” agent Christophe Hutteau told Radio Monte Carlo.
“He (Valbuena) will be in Marseille next year because of his love for the club is unique.”
Hutteau also revealed that his client is set to sign a contract extension with the French giants.
“He has offers from other clubs. He wants to be a part of this recovery because it is important. He should extend his contract in a few days, probably until June 2017.”
Mathieu Valbuena has been in fine form this season, scoring 5 goals and producing 13 assists in 33 Ligue 1 games.
