Schalke defender and Serbia international Matija Nastasic is said to be sitting on the verge of AS Roma move, according to Sky Sport Italia.
With Antonio Rudiger now officially a Chelsea player, Giallorossi have set their sights on the 24-year-old former Partizan, Fiorentina and Manchester City defender who is regarded as a direct replacement for the German centre-back.
Given the fact Nastasic is no stranger to Serie A, AS Roma are hoping Serbia defender could be an instant fit in the team, filling a giant hope in the back line left by Rudiger’s departure.
Negotiations between AS Roma and Matija Nastasic are thought to be in an advanced stage and the Italian giants are quite confident a deal could be reached over a summer transfer.
Schalke are demanding €20 million for their first-team player but AS Roma sporting director Monchi is attempting to lower the asking price.
It is believed that Giallorossi are willing to offer €15 million plus another €5 million in add-ons and performance-related bonuses.
