Manchester United defender Matteo Darmian is reportedly eager to join Serie A high-flying side Napoli during the January transfer window.
The Partenopei are currently on the lookout for defensive reinforcements due to the fact that key diffender Faouzi Ghoulam suffered a serious knee injury that will keep him sidelined for a significant period of time.
The search took them to Manchester United and Matteo Darmian who has expressed interest in leaving Old Trafford in order to get his career back on track.
The Italian international’s playing time has been severely limited this season with Darmian playing second fiddle to in-form Antonio Valencia who’s been a preferred choice at right-back this season.
Darmian has been in and out of the first team making only four Premier League appearances and Sky Sports understands he happily welcomed Napoli’s interest.
The two clubs are said to be prepared to sit down and open negotiations for the 28-year-old whose contract with Manchester United expires in 2020.
