Italian daily newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport is reporting that Arsenal are stepping up their efforts to sign striker Mattia Destro from Roma.
The 23-year-old is clearly unhappy by the lack of playing time at Stadio Olimpico and he has refused to reject speculation linking him with a January exit.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Destro’s official representative is set to meet with Premier League giants Arsenal.
The Gunners could sign a new centre forward now that Lukas Podolski and Yaya Sanogo are no longer at the Emirates, and the Italy international appears to be one of their primary targets.
Roma chiefs are not too keen on letting Destro leave this winter, but they may have no choice if Arsenal submit a tempting proposal.
The highly rated footballer has been pretty impressive every time he was called upon since arriving from Genoa, bagging 24 goals in just 33 starts in Serie A.
